The Polaroid Photomaker is a photo camera. It belongs to the group of instant cameras. The features of the model coincide with the Polaroid 600 (round above). Of course, the camera is no longer produced today.

The color scheme of the camera is based on the colors dark blue and dark green. Additionally, there are various imprints on the body, including a smile with its tongue sticking out and hearts.

The Polaroid Photomaker is characterized by its uncomplicated handling. Many setting options found on other types of cameras have been omitted. The ease of use allows it to be used on many occasions. If you are hosting a wedding or a lavish party, the camera is an excellent choice for taking photos. The camera also cuts a fine figure when traveling.

The most important settings are already set. A free choice of aperture and shutter speed is not available. The lens is fixed and cannot be changed. Many modern cameras have a zoom function. This functionality is not present in this model. The shortest focusing distance is 60 cm. This minimum distance must be maintained for sharp images.

The Polaroid camera has an integrated flash. The flash fires automatically. Especially in low light conditions, you are often grateful for the flash.

Films for the Polaroid Photomaker

Of great importance for the Polaroid instant camera are the corresponding photo films. The manufacturer of the camera, the American company Polaroid, has ceased production. No need to worry, since 2010 films for the old 600 cameras are offered again.

There is both a color film and a black and white film for the camera. The right option for color pictures with the instant camera is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. Simple black and white images are easily possible with Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. A good rating is given to both films in test reports.

One pack contains a film cassette with eight images. The light-sensitive film material should not come into contact with light outside the camera. Optimal storage conditions are found in a dry and dark place.

As prescribed in the standard, one image measures 10.8 x 8.8 cm. The actual image is square and 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The rest of the picture is white. For those who find white frames too boring, there are editions with colorful frames.

The Polaroid Photomaker cannot use Fujifilm’s instant film.

Batteries

What batteries are needed for the photo camera? The camera is powered by a battery inside the film cassette. It contains enough energy for all unexposed photos in the film cassette. Even when the flash is used. So changing the film also serves as changing the energy source. Another battery is not needed for the camera.

The film cassette with the battery must not be disposed of in household waste. It is best to take the plastic cassette or battery to a suitable local drop-off location.

Polaroid Photomaker Instruction Manual

How to take photos with the instant camera? A guide to taking photos with the instant camera.

First, you need to load the film. To do this, first push the slider on the side forward that the film door opens. Then the film cassette is inserted. Then the flap can be closed again. The camera now directly removes the protective film of the film.

Now you can take pictures. View the subject through the viewfinder and press the shutter release. The camera technology transports the image from the film cassette out of the camera and the development of the image starts. After a few minutes, you have the finished image in your hand.

Alternatives

If you can’t find a camera, you can turn to alternatives. A good alternative is the Polaroid OneStep Close Up*. The Polaroid One600* is also very popular. The instant cameras have comparable features. They also use the same film format.

However, you may want to try something new. Then you can reach for cameras from other manufacturers. Two instant cameras are the Instax Wide 300* and Instax Mini 40*. Suitable film material will continue to be produced for both cameras.
