The Polaroid 650 is an instant camera. It is designed for the Polaroid 600 format.

The Polaroid 650 is identical to the Polaroid One Step Flash Closeup. The black camera is available with a blue or red shutter release.

Films for the 650 are manufactured by The Impossible Project, after Polaroid ended production. The current films for color images and black and white images are the Polaroid Color Film for 600* and the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. Impossible films have been sold again under the brand of the photo pioneer from the USA since 2020.

Batteries

What type of batteries are needed for the camera? For this type of camera, the battery is found in the cassette along with the unexposed images. The power is sufficient for all unexposed images in the cassette. Even when using the flash for each exposure. So changing the film is also changing the battery. Another battery is not required for the instant camera. For the sake of the environment, the film cassette with the battery should not be disposed of in household waste. It is best to take the plastic cassette or battery to a suitable local drop-off location.

Manual for the Polaroid 650

How to take photos with the instant camera? A quick guide to how the instant camera works. The first act is to load the film. To do this, push the small slider on the side forward. This opens the film door. Then insert the film cassette and close the flap again. The camera now ejects the protective cover of the film. The camera is now ready to shoot. View the subject through the viewfinder and press the shutter release button. The motor in the camera will now eject the instant image and development will begin. Within a few minutes, the development process is complete and you can view the final result.

Alternative Options

If you can’t find the camera, you can resort to alternatives. Here, for example, are the Polaroid 600 Business Edition* and Polaroid Sun 660*. These models are identical in the range of functions they offer. They use the identical film format. However, you may want to try something new. Outside the Polaroid world, you can find the LomoInstant Square* and Diana Instant Square*. Here, too, you can still easily purchase the film material.
