The Opus AF3 is a cheap 35 mm camera for beginners. It was offered by Supasnaps. Supasnaps was a chain of development laboratories in the UK. Of course, the camera is no longer manufactured.

Camera features

Equipped with a fixed 35mm lens, the probable focal length varies between 28mm and 35mm, although no specific details are available. The integrated autofocus technology automatically adjusts the sharpness of the image, while a protective flap protects the lens from potential damage and contamination.

Of course, the device is also equipped with an integrated flash. A special function to reduce the “red-eye effect” is integrated in this model. Although a tripod thread and a self-timer are missing, a device allows a wrist strap to be attached to the camera.

The camera requires two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*) for power supply, although using rechargeable batteries is a worthwhile alternative.

Film options for the Opus AF3

According to the user manual, the Opus AF3 uses 35mm film. These films are still available and processable from a variety of suppliers.

Recommended films for this camera include Kodak Ultramax 400* for color images and Ilford Delta 100* for black and white images. Other brands such as Lomography, Fujifilm, Rollei, Adox and Foma also offer suitable films.

Most photo studios offer the development of these films. The negatives can be printed directly or digitized and used as digital files.

The negative size of the Opus AF3 is 24mm x 36mm. An automated system advances the film after each exposure, with a counter at the top showing the number of frames taken.

After the end of the film, it is automatically rewound into its cassette. After that, and only after that, should the camera be opened to remove the film for processing. Under no circumstances should the camera be opened before the film is rewound, as light could enter and damage the film.
