The Nikon W35 is a snapshot camera. The 35mm camera was built by Nikon and presented to the public in 1991. In some regions the camera was also sold as Nikon One Touch 200. The model was aimed at beginners or occasional photographers.
The 35mm photo camera comes with a fixed lens. 35 mm is the focal length of the lens. The maximum aperture is f/3.5 and the camera has an autofocus. The closest focusing distance for this lens is 65 cm.
Photography is made easier by the built-in light meter. The film speed is determined by the DX code on the film cartridge. Supported are films with ISO 100, ISO 200, ISO 400, and ISO 1000. If the ISO value is not one of these, the rounded-off value is always used; example: ISO 160 becomes ISO 100. If the film cartridge does not have a DX code, the camera sets ISO 100. You cannot set the ISO value yourself.
Aperture and exposure time are set automatically by the Nikon W35. A flash is built in for pictures in low light or poor lighting conditions. At a sensitivity of ISO 100 it reaches up to 9 meters. The time for charging, after use, is about 5 seconds.
The 35mm camera has a built-in self-timer and a thread for a tripod. The self-timer has a lead time of ten seconds.
The dimensions of the Nikon W35 are 12.4 x 6.8 x 5 cm. It weighs 200 grams. Power is supplied by two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). According to the manufacturer, a few batteries should be sufficient for about 24 rolls of film with 24 frames and 50% flash.
Films for the Nikon W35
You can’t use the camera without photo film The Nikon W35 needs 35mm film. These films are still in production and can be obtained from almost every supplier of development work. For colour photos there is the Kodak Ultramax 400*. One possibility for black and white images is the Kodak T-Max 100*.
The development process for color film is the C-41 process. This development process is carried out by all photo labs that offer development of 35mm film. Most drugstore chains in Germany offer the development of colour films.
The exposure area of the 35 mm camera has a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. The film in the Nikon W35 is automatically forwarded to the next frame. The camera produces one frame per second.
The photo camera is no longer manufactured. The value of the Nikon W35 depends on the condition of the camera. The value of one copy is around 10 to 20 Euros.
Nikon W35 QD
Additionally, the Nikon W35 QD was offered. This model offers the possibility of imprinting the date of recording in the captured photo. Otherwise the model is identical in the range of functions.
