Nikon TW2

The Nikon TW2 is a snapshot camera. The 35mm camera was built by Nikon and introduced in the 1980s. The 35mm photo camera was also sold under the name “Nikon Tele Touch Deluxe”. This model is identical in its functions.

The photo camera comes with two fixed lenses. The focal lengths are 35mm and 70mm. The maximum aperture is f/3.5 or f/6.8. They are composed of 4 lens elements in 3 groups and 8 elements in 6 groups. Focusing is by autofocus. The closest focusing distance is 69 cm.

The 35mm photo camera has a built-in light meter. The sensitivity is set directly via the DX code on the cartridge. The Nikon TW2 has an automatic exposure control and sets aperture and exposure time automatically.

The built-in flash provides sufficient light. The 35mm camera has a self-timer and a tripod thread. The camera weighs 310 grams. The dimensions are 13.6 x 7.2 x 4.6 cm. At the presentation it was the thinnest camera with autofocus and two lenses. The camera requires a DL223 battery (eBay / Amazon*). These batteries are still quite easy to get today.

Nikon TW2D

With the Nikon TW2D a sub model was offered. This model offers the same functions, but is able to imprint the date of recording in the images.

Films for the Nikon TW2

Which films are used for the Nikon TW2? The camera exposes 35mm films. Films of this format are still easily available and are still being developed. The exposure area of the camera is 24 mm x 36 mm. The Nikon TW2 automatically transports the films further.

A recommendation for colour photos is the Kodak Portra 400*. If you want to stay monochrome, the Ilford Delta 400* is not bad. The colour film is designed for development in the C-41 process. This is offered by almost every photo lab. The black-and-white film must be processed in an appropriate developer.

The 35mm photo camera is no longer in production. Depending on the condition the costs for the Nikon TW2 vary. Thus, for one copy, one puts on average 40 to 50 euros on the table.
