The Nikon F3/T is a single lens reflex camera. It was introduced in the 80s and is based on the professional camera Nikon F3. The functional range of these two cameras is identical. The addition “T” stands for titanium. This raw material was used to build the housing. This exotic model is available in black and champagne.

The lens of the Nikon F3/T is interchangeable. This is possible trough the Nikon F lens mount. The first cameras with this connector were introduced in the 1950s. Since that time it has been the standard at Nikon and was not abandoned with the introduction of an autofocus.

Other manufacturers of matching lenses include Sigma, Tokina, Tamron and Samyang. But beware, not all modern camera lenses can be used with the old cameras It is necessary to focus the lens manually on the desired subject.

The Nikon F3/T has an integrated light meter. It was designed to work with films between ISO 12 and ISO 6400. The exposure measurement is performed through the lens. The aperture and shutter speed can be set by the Nikon F3/T automatically. The desired exposure time can be determined manually. The aperture is also individually selectable.

The Bulb mode can be used for long exposures. An external flash unit can be connected to the PC flash socket. The 35mm camera has a thread for a tripod. In addition, there is a connector for a cable release and a self-timer.

The power supply comes from two LR44 batteries (eBay / Amazon*).

Films for the Nikon F3/T

What films do you need for the Nikon F3/T? It need 35mm film. This type of film is still being produced and can be processed by most photo laboratories without any problems. Possible films for the SLR camera are the Kodak Portra 400* for color images and the AgfaPhoto APX 400* for black and white shots.

The color film is being developed in the C-41 process. The C-41 films are offered by most photo laboratories.

The negatives of Nikon F3/T are 24 mm x 36 mm big. A 35mm film (135-36) will therefore fit around 36 frames. The film in the camera must be winded manually by the photographer.

The Nikon F3/T is only available as a used model. Depending on the condition and functionality the used price varies. Since the number of pieces was smaller with this version, the price is often higher today. If you only want to take pictures, the “normal” F3 is also sufficient.
