In 2012, the Adox CHS was discontinued, in 2013 the company from Berlin wants to revive it
In the summer of 2012, the Adox CHS series (25, 50, 100) was discontinued.
The reason was among others the end of Fotokemika. Another reason according to Adox was the discontinuation of the production of sensitizing dyes.
But now there is good news for all lovers of the 100 ISO black and white film. Adox will launch a new version of the film, the Adox CHS 100 II. The new film is to stay as close as possible to the original. It features a classic emulsion without flat crystals and has a single-layer emulsion. In addition, thanks to the support, reversal development will be possible and previous problems with the coating will be eliminated.
In terms of formats, the Adox CHS 100 II will offer a wide selection. Of course, it will be available as 35mm and medium format film. But Adox has also announced that it wants to offer it up to extra-large sheet film formats.
Most likely, the 100 was revived and not the 25 or the 50 due to sales figures. According to Adox, the 100 sold as often as the two lower-speed films combined.
The new film is produced in Germany and is therefore also part of the "Adox Premium Line". It is already being manufactured and will be available in the corresponding formats in June 2013.
