The Miranda DX-3 is a 35mm camera. It belongs to the group of SLR cameras and was introduced in the mid-1970s. It is one of the last models of the Miranda brand.

Lenses can be exchanged with the 35 mm camera. Miranda bayonet lenses can be used with this camera. The Miranda Auto EC 50mm f/1.8 is often found on the camera. With this model, the distance to the subject must be set manually as no automatic setting is available.

The Miranda DX-3 has an integrated light meter to enable precise exposure settings. ISO values in the range from 25 to 1600 are supported by the camera. With an SLR camera, exposure is measured through the lens. The viewfinder shows whether the settings are correct. The aperture and shutter speed can be selected by the user as required.

It is possible to take pictures with the 35mm camera in bulb mode with a long exposure time. External flash units can be connected to the camera via the PC flash connection or the hot shoe connection.

The Miranda DX-3 can be mounted on a tripod as it has a tripod thread. There is also a connection for a cable release and a self-timer. The self-timer has a lead time of 8 seconds and an LED that indicates the status.

With a size of 13.4 x 8.9 x 8.6 cm, the Miranda DX-3 weighs 800 grams according to the operating instructions. Both values refer to the camera combined with the 50 mm lens. The camera requires four S76 batteries (eBay / Amazon*), which supply the power for all functions.

Films for the Miranda DX-3

Which films are required for the Miranda DX-3? 35mm film must be purchased to use the camera. Despite the introduction of new film formats, the 35mm format still retains its popularity, which means that some manufacturers continue to produce films specifically for this format.

Available photographic films for the Miranda DX-3 that are readily available include the Ilford XP2 Super* for black and white photos and the Kodak Portra 400* for colour images. Of course, it is also possible to use films from other manufacturers.

The negatives of this camera have dimensions of 24 mm x 36 mm. At this size, a conventional 35 mm film usually holds around 36 images. The camera requires manual film transport by the photographer to move to the next image, as there is no automatic option.
