Lomo’Instant Automat el Nil

The Lomo’Instant Automat el Nil instant camera was launched on the market by Lomography in March 2024. This camera represents a variant of the well-known Lomo’Instant Automat series. Together with the Lomo’Instant Wide el Nil, it is part of the Lomography Travel Collection.

The range of functions is similar to the normal Lomo’Instant Automat. The only difference is the exterior. The housing is kept in a cream-coloured tone. A postcard design is printed on the front and back. The postcard is made to look old and shows the Nile with the pyramids during sunset.

It offers an automatic exposure setting, a bulb mode for long exposures, the possibility of multiple exposures and zone focus, which opens up a wide range of creative possibilities.

Additional functions such as a remote shutter release, an integrated flash and interchangeable lenses as well as various colour filters offer further creative options.

Film options for the Lomo’Instant Automat el Nil

The Lomo’Instant Automat el Nil uses Instax Mini film from Fujifilm, which has been specially developed for this format.

The Instax Mini format, which is one of the smallest instant formats available, has image dimensions of 8.6 x 5.4 cm with an effective image area of 62 x 46 mm, which is approximately the size of a business card.

The films are supplied in cassettes that are inserted completely into the camera. A pack typically contains 10 images. A film change is necessary when the frame counter reaches “0”. The average cost per image is around 70 cents.

As soon as an image is exposed, the camera outputs it and the photo is developed within minutes. The colour films (Instax Mini Film*) impress with their image quality. The white edges of the pictures can be customised with pens and stickers.

The Instax Mini Monochrome* is available for lovers of black and white photography. In addition to the standard colour film variants, there are also special editions with printed edges. The Instax Mini format is ideal for occasions such as parties or weddings.
