The LomoChrome Metropolis is a color negative. According to Lomography, it is the world’s first new color negative emulsion
for more than five years. It should be exposed between ISO 100 and 400 and achieve color shifts without any filters.

The first sample images are characterized by their strong contrasts and cool color tones. Some images almost look like post-colored black and white images. In any case, it cannot be compared with the common color films on the market.

The film is normally developed in the C-41-process. It remains to be seen how easy it is to scan. It is designed with 5500 Kelvin for daylight shots.

What’s really nice to see is the variety of formats in which the film is supposed to exist. Because LomoChrome Metropolis will be available for 35mm (35mm), medium format (120), pocket film (110) and 16mm cameras. It would be nice to have the film as flat film for large format cameras.

As with many Lomography products in the past, this film is only available through Kickstarter. It is the eleventh campaign of the company from Vienna, Austria. Kickstarter supporters get the color film with up to 25% discount.

The cost for five rolls of the 35mm film is $50, the same price is charged for five rolls of the 120 film. Five rolls of Metropolis in pocket film format cost 35 US dollars. 30 meters of the 35mm film, if you want to transport it yourself in cartridges, costs 189 US dollars. 3 rolls of the 16 mm film cost 199 US dollars.

The campaign target is 88,811 Euros (100,000 US dollars) and must be reached in 38 days. At this point in time it has already been supported with about 4200 Euros.

The first film rolls are to be delivered in January 2020.
