The 7artisans 35mm f/1.4 APS-C is a manual normal lens developed by the Chinese manufacturer 7artisans Photoelectric Technology. It is the successor to the first generation of this model and was specifically designed for mirrorless system cameras with an APS-C sensor.

Thanks to the various available mounts, such as for Fujifilm X, Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon EOS-M, Canon RF, and Micro Four Thirds, the lens can be used with a wide range of camera systems. On a camera with such a sensor, the angle of view corresponds to a focal length of approximately 52 millimeters in full-frame format, which is close to the classic field of view of the human eye.

The optical construction of the lens comprises eight glass elements arranged in five groups. Optical lenses are used in manufacturing to reduce aberrations.

With a maximum aperture of f/1.4, the lens offers high light sensitivity. This feature makes it easier to shoot in difficult lighting conditions and allows precise control over depth of field. The subject can be separated from the background, while the out-of-focus area receives a soft structure thanks to the nine-blade aperture. The aperture can be closed down to f/16.

The housing is made of metal, giving the lens a solid feel. Despite this robust construction, the housing is relatively light and compact, weighing approximately 228 grams.

The filter thread diameter is 49 millimeters, so standard filters can be easily attached.

Aperture and focus are controlled manually via corresponding rings on the lens barrel. The aperture ring works smoothly without noticeable clicks, which is particularly advantageous for video recordings, as brightness changes can be made without disturbing noises during recording.

The minimum focusing distance is 37 centimeters, allowing close-ups from short distances. Since the lens has no electronic contacts, there is no data transfer between the lens and the camera body. Exposure data such as the selected aperture are therefore not stored in the EXIF data of the image files.

Exposure metering must be done via the camera in aperture priority or manual mode. The combination of compact design and manual operation makes the lens suitable for various photographic areas such as portrait photography, reportage, or everyday documentation.
