Manufacturer 7Artisans expands its portfolio of autofocus lenses with a fast prime lens for full-frame. With the AF 135mm f/1.8 Max, the company targets photographers working in portrait, wedding, and event photography. The lens is available for Sony E, Nikon Z, and L-Mount, making it usable on a wide range of mirrorless cameras.
The prime lens consists of 16 lens elements arranged in 13 groups. These include special extra-low dispersion elements and high refraction elements. This construction aims to reduce aberrations and chromatic aberrations.
The aperture consists of 12 rounded blades, which should provide smooth background blur at open aperture. The adjustable aperture range goes from f/1.8 to f/16.
Weighing approximately 1014 grams in the E-mount version, the lens is solidly built. The housing is primarily made of metal and measures 91 mm in diameter with a total length of 136 mm.
The construction features a physical aperture ring, a focus ring for manual adjustments, and an AF/MF switch for quick switching of focusing method. Additionally, a customizable function button is integrated on the barrel, which can be assigned various functions via the camera menu.
Focusing can be done either automatically or manually. The minimum focusing distance is 0.68 meters, which is relatively short for a 135mm focal length and enables close-up shots. The angle of view is specified as 18.4 degrees.
On the front, there is a filter thread with a diameter of 82 mm and a bayonet for the lens hood.
For future firmware updates, the lens is equipped with a USB port directly on the housing. Electronic contacts on the mount ensure transmission of Exif data to the camera body.
