The Konica EE-matic 260 is a viewfinder camera that was launched by Konica in the 1960s.
Lens
The Konica EE-matic 260 is equipped with a permanently installed Hexanon 42mm f/2.8 lens. This lens consists of three groups with four elements.
A filter thread with a 49mm diameter and a 0.75mm thread pitch allows for the use of filters and accessories.
The camera features a coupled rangefinder with a double image, possessing an effective base length of 15.9mm, and a close focusing limit of 0.9 meters. Focus is set manually via an adjustment ring.
Exposure Settings
The Konica EE-matic 260 uses an EE (electric-eye) system for automatic exposure adjustment. It is equipped with a Seiko FLA program automatic shutter with an AUTO/Flash switch system.
In automatic mode, the shutter speed range is from 1/30 second to 1/250 second. For flash photography, a fixed shutter speed of 1/30 second is used. Exposure metering is automatic.
The exposure range is between EV 8 (f/2.8, 1/30 sec) and EV 17 (f/22, 1/250 sec) for ASA 100 film. A warning indicator in the viewfinder appears, and the shutter release is blocked when lighting conditions are insufficient for automatic exposure.
Flash System
The Konica EE-matic 260 features a built-in flash system that uses exclusive flash cubes. An ejector for used flash cubes is provided.
The Flash-matic system automatically adjusts the aperture based on the subject distance after the film speed has been set. The flash cubes rotate synchronously with film transport.
Additional Features
The Konica EE-matic 260 has a bright viewfinder frame with 0.6x magnification and parallax compensation marks. It features automatic film transport with a winding lever on the top of the camera. The winding angle is 20°, and the winding angle is 130°. The shutter is self-cocking, and double exposure is not possible.
A tripod socket is also included. The camera does not offer a self-timer.
Dimensions and Weight
The dimensions of the Konica EE-matic 260 are 130mm (width) x 80mm (height) x 67mm (depth). The camera’s weight is 590 grams.
Film Recommendations
The Konica EE-matic 260 uses Instamatic Cartridge Film 126. The camera automatically sets the film speed based on the cartridge. Supported ASA values range from 64 to 160. As the camera offers limited manual adjustment options, films with medium sensitivity (e.g., ISO 100) are best suited for general shooting situations.
The film speed is indicated on the outside of the Instamatic film cartridge. The number of frames exposed on a film roll can be checked in the film counter window.
