The Kodak VR35 K300 is a photo camera for snapshots. It was manufactured by Eastman Kodak and launched on the market in the 80s. The model was produced in a factory in Thailand. The body of the camera is made of plastic. It stands out for its ease of use due to the few setting options.
The 35mm photo camera comes with a fixed lens. The focal length of the lens is 38mm. The maximum aperture is f/5.6. The focus of the lens is fixed, so you cannot focus it yourself. A sliding door protects the lens from damage.
The exposure is not determined by the Kodak VR35 K300. The only adjustment option is a slider to set the film speed. Of course, you can make this setting regardless of the actual sensitivity of the film. The choices are ISO 100, ISO 200, and ISO 400, and the size of the aperture changes depending on the setting. The shutter speed is the same in all cases and cannot be changed.
There is a built-in flash for shooting in insufficient light. When the flash is on, the camera’s aperture setting also changes. A light signals that the flash is ready. Power is supplied by two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). The batteries are only needed for the flash, the rest of the camera works mechanically without power.
Films for the Kodak VR35 K300
According to the manual, the Kodak VR35 K300 uses 35mm film. 35mm film is still produced today and can be developed in most labs. Good 35mm films for color or black and white photography are the Fujifilm Superia 400* and the Kodak T-Max 100*. Both are solid films for nice shots on vacation or everyday. A small window on the back lets you see what type of film is loaded.
After each shot, the film must be rewound to the next free frame. For this purpose, the VR35 K300 has a thumbwheel on the back. A counter on the top shows the number of frames taken. With normal film, 36 frames normally fit on a roll of film. When the end of the film roll is reached, the film material must be rewound with a crank. The camera can then be opened, the cartridge removed and taken to the developer.
