The Kodak Instamatic 56X is a 126 camera. It is part of the Instamatic model series and the successor of the 55X. The plastic camera was manufactured by Kodak and others in the UK over a period of 5 years (1972 – 1977).
The features of the camera, as you would expect from the Instamatic cameras, are modest. It comes with a fixed focus 43 mm lens with an f/11 aperture. For 1/50 second, light can fall through it onto the film. A Magicubes flash can be placed on the camera.
The Kodak Instamatic 56X is loaded with type 126 film, but today these cassette films are no longer made.
Kodak Instamatic 66X
It is identical to the 56X. However, the design of the “premium” camera is in two shades of brown.

FAQ about the Kodak Instamatic 56X
Is the Kodak Instamatic 56X easy to use?
Yes, it's a very simple point-and-shoot camera. Its basic functions make it straightforward for beginners. Even though it's an older model, it's quite intuitive to operate.
What kind of film does this 126 camera use?
The Kodak Instamatic 56X uses type 126 film cartridges. Unfortunately, this type of film is no longer produced, so finding it might be challenging.
How does the flash work on the Instamatic 56X?
It uses a Magicubes flash, a small flash cube that's attached to the camera. Each cube provides several flashes before needing replacement. You'll find that these are also difficult to find.
What's the difference between the 56X and the 66X?
The Kodak Instamatic 66X is almost identical to the 56X, but it has a slightly different design. The 66X features a two-tone brown color scheme, giving it a more premium look.
Is the lens on the plastic camera good?
The Instamatic 56X has a fixed-focus 43mm lens with an f/11 aperture. While simple, it's sufficient for snapshots and casual photography. Expect images to have a relatively shallow depth of field.
