The Kodak Ektachrome Panther 50 is a colour reversal film known for its fine grain and high colour saturation. Originally developed for professional photography and demanding amateurs, Panther 50 is characterised by its good colour rendition and sharpness. The development of Ektachrome film was a significant step for Kodak, as it provided an alternative to the then dominant Kodachrome and allowed for easier processing.

Use of expired photographic films

When using expired films, such as Kodak Ektachrome Panther 50, you should expect colour shifts and a possible loss of contrast. The storage conditions of the film before the expiry date play an important role in maintaining its quality. Films stored in a cool, dry place often show fewer ageing effects. It is advisable to expose expired films at a higher ISO setting to compensate for the loss of sensitivity.

Application cases

The Ektachrome Panther 50 is particularly suitable for landscape and portrait photography under natural lighting conditions. Its ability to faithfully reproduce subtle colour nuances and skin tones makes it ideal for demanding colour photography. The film is also used in commercial photography, especially for fashion and advertising shots, due to its vivid colour reproduction and attention to detail. In view of its properties, Panther 50 is less suitable for situations with low light or fast movements.

Development of the film

If you have a roll of film, you can of course still have it developed. The film must be processed using the E6 process. The E6 process is offered by many photo labs. At the end you get the slides. These can be projected using a slide projector or the slides can be scanned using a scanner.
