The Kodak EasyLoad 35 KE85 Zoom is a camera from Kodak. It is a simple camera for everyday life or vacations. The model is very limited in its adjustment possibilities, but this also makes it easier to use. The KE 85 was introduced at the beginning of the 00’s and was built in China. The exterior is in grey and black and made of plastic.
The 35mm camera comes with an Ektanar zoom lens. 38 mm to 85 mm is the focal length range of the lens. The largest aperture of the camera is f/3.8 (38 mm) or f/8.5 (85 mm). Manual focusing is not necessary with the 35 mm camera, there is an autofocus system. The minimum distance to the subject is 60 cm.
The 35mm photo camera has a built-in light meter. The light meter is built for films with a sensitivity of ISO 100 to ISO 800. The compact camera reads the ISO value via the DX code on the cartridge. There are no settings for aperture and shutter speed. For the shutter speed the camera selects a value between 1/500 second and 4 seconds.
In low light conditions the built-in flash can be used. At ISO 100 the range is up to 6.4 meters at 38 mm. At the end of the zoom in the telephoto range, the maximum distance is 3 meters. With a button under the LED display you can switch between the different modes of the flash. You can choose between auto (with avoidance of red eyes), fill-in flash, night mode with flash (also without flash) and the complete switching off of the flash.
The camera has a thread for a tripod and a self-timer. With the self-timer the camera takes a picture after ten seconds. Another mode is the portrait mode. This mode is especially for taking pictures of people close by and automatically sets the focal length to a common portrait focal length.
The Kodak EasyLoad 35 KE85 Zoom measures 12.6 x 6.8 x 3.8 cm. It weighs 251 grams. A CR2 battery (eBay / Amazon*) is responsible for the power supply. You can get this battery in most electronics stores very easily or directly online.
films for the Kodak EasyLoad 35 KE85 Zoom
Exposure is done with Kodak EasyLoad 35 KE85 Zoom 35 mm film. Films of this format are still easy to obtain today and are still being developed. For black and white images you can use Ilford Delta 100*. For color images the Kodak Gold 200* is a possibility.
A special feature of this camera is the EasyLoad system. This technique was developed by Kodak and is designed to make loading the film into the camera easier. After this step, the user only has to press the shutter release button. The film is automatically rewound after each frame, and at the end of the roll it is put back into the cartridge. With a small button, the film can also be put back into the cartridge and removed earlier.
