The Kodak EasyLoad 35 KE40 is a snapshot camera. It was introduced by Kodak in the 1990s and built in China. The camera is quite easy to use. The housing is made of plastic. In addition, there was a version with a data back for the exposure of the date taken in the photos.
The lens of the 35mm camera is fixed. The focal length is unchangeable and is 29 mm. The largest available aperture is f/5.6. The lens is fixed, so you do not have to wait for the autofocus. The closest focusing distance is 1.2 m.
The 35mm camera has a light meter. It is designed for films with ISO 100, ISO 200 and ISO 400. It reads the DX code of the film cartridge and adjusts the light meter accordingly. The exposure settings are determined automatically by the Kodak EasyLoad 35 KE40. This concerns the shutter speed and shutter speed.
In poor lighting conditions, the built-in flash can be used. At ISO 100 the possible range is up to 2.8 meters. While the flash charges, an LED on the back flashes. When the flash is ready for use, the LED turns off.
A display on the upper side shows the number of pictures taken and the set mode. So there is a mode for a fill-in flash and a night flash mode. The flash can also be switched off completely.
The camera comes with a self-timer. If you want to be on the picture, you can put the camera on a tripod. On the underside there is the corresponding thread. The lead time of the self-timer is ten seconds.
With a size of 13.6 x 6.8 x 4.4 cm the 35mm camera weighs 185 grams. On the side is an eyelet for a hand strap. Two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*) are required to operate the camera. These batteries are usually already available in your household or can be easily obtained in most stores. To save power, the camera automatically turns off after three minutes. An additional battery for the version with data back is not needed.
