The Kodak Cameo afm is a snapshot camera. It was built by Kodak from 1994 to 1996. The cameras were built by the American photo pioneer in Hong Kong. A model with a data back was also offered, this exposes the date of the shot into the picture.
The camera comes with a fixed focal length. With the Kodak Cameo afm you do not have to focus by hand. The camera has an autofocus. The exposure in terms of aperture and shutter speed cannot be set manually by the photographer.
The camera has a built-in flash. The Kodak Cameo afm has a thread for a tripod and a self-timer. There is also a panorama mode. In this mode the image is cropped with a bar at the top and bottom. This method creates the look of a panorama, but nothing more fits on the image.
The power supply is a CR 123A battery (eBay / Amazon*). This battery powers the camera and flash. The LCD display on the upper side also draws the used energy from it. The battery is still easy to get.
Films for the Kodak Cameo afm
What film format is the Kodak Cameo afm designed for? The camera needs film for the 35mm format. These are still easy to get today and are still being developed. One possibility for color images is the Fujifilm Superia 400* and the Ilford HP5* for black and white photos.
The color film is processed in the C-41 process. The C-41 process is standardized and is offered by most development laboratories. The black and white film must be developed in a suitable developer from Kodak, Ilford or another manufacturer.
The negatives of the 35 mm camera have a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. A normal 35 mm film holds about 36 frames at this size. The film transport is automatic. The photographer does not have to rewind it.
The 35mm photo camera can only be found used. The prices for the Kodak Cameo afm differ depending on the condition. The value is usually in the range of 5 to 20 Euros for a copy in working condition.
