Can you have a favorite camera that you don't own?

Who are you?

Who am I? I am Alexander Schulze, 15 years old, live in Seligenstadt in Hesse, and am currently in 8th grade. I originally come from Leipzig, where I lived for 6 years. Many moves later, I am now in Seligenstadt, a beautiful town with 22,000 inhabitants, directly on the Main River.

How did you get into analog photography?

Analog photography - an addiction! Until half a year ago, I couldn't have answered the question of what analog photography is. Now it's no longer possible to stop, at least I hope so.

So, it started when a friend brought a cheap-looking 3€ camera (as we called it) and we first laughed. Slowly I no longer found it funny and began to take an interest. Then I also learned about the site lomography.com and signed up for fun. At a flea market, I saw a SLR and bought it for a good price, without knowing much about cameras. It was the Porst Compact Reflex OCN, which still works without any issues.

Do you have a favorite camera?

Can you have a favorite camera that you don't own? If so, then it's the LC-A. It feels kind of embarrassing not to have one, but I can reassure all Lomographers: I'm looking for one and will buy one as soon as possible. Besides the LC-A, I like all my cameras. So far my collection isn't very big, but recently I got a Praktica PLC3, which I really like for its design.

Do you have a favorite film?

No, I don't have a favorite film. Maybe that will change when I get to know more films. So far I've shot with about 10 different films, which isn't very many. Among them are e.g. DM Paradies, Fuji Sensia, Kodak Ektar 100, Kodak b/w 400 CN, Fuji Superia, Agfa HDC plus 100, and a homemade redscale.

What tip should someone have given you when you started analog photography?

Hmm, I have to think about that. I think I'm satisfied with what I've done. My Porst works and last year I also won a Minolta on eBay for little money. Maybe I should have given myself the tip to buy an LC-A first.

From tomorrow, there will be no more films to buy! What do you do? What would I do? I would gather all my money and run at record speed to the nearest store that sells films! Of course, I hope that day never comes!

Where can you be found online?

You can find me on Lomography under the name "alexes". Here's the link: http://www.lomography.de/homes/alexes
