The Hanimex Amphibian is a 35mm camera. It belongs to the group of underwater cameras. The model was built for the trade mark by the Japanese company Sea & Sea. The range of functions is identical with the Motormarine 35 SE.

The lens of the photo camera cannot be exchanged. The focal length of the lens is 35 mm. The maximum aperture is f/2.8. The 35mm photo camera is equipped with a switch for manual focusing.

Photography is made easier by the built-in light meter. It is designed for films with ISO 64, ISO 100, ISO 400. The aperture number can be freely selected on the Hanimex Amphibian. The exposure time, on the other hand, is unchangeable and is 1/100 second. An LED in the viewfinder warns of incorrect exposure settings.

The built-in flash can be used in poor lighting conditions. The camera has a thread for a tripod for shake-free shooting. The housing of the camera is plastic, yellow and waterproof.

The camera requires two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). It can be used down to a depth of 40 meters.

Films for the Hanimex Amphibian

Without 35mm films, the Hanimex Amphibian does not work. 35mm films are still produced by different producers. The Kodak Portra 400* is a possible color film for the Hanimex Amphibian. Black and white images are with the Ilford Delta 400* possible.

The color film is designed for development in the C-41 process. This is offered by almost every photo lab.

The exposure area of the Hanimex Amphibian is 24 mm x 36 mm big. When the exposure area is this size, 36 photos usually fit on a normal film (135-36). The film is transported automatically.

There was a possibillity to screw on an wide angel lens and two kinds of close up lenses you could switch the lenses under water. I used this camera in the eighties and won some prices!
