The Hanimex 35 HS is a simple viewfinder camera made by Hanimex. It was probably built by the Hong Kong company Haking. Surprisingly, according to the country of manufacture, it was not made in Hong Kong but in Macau. A similar model is the Halina 150.
Your lens is permanently installed, which means that it cannot be changed. With a maximum aperture of f/5.6 and a focal length of 33mm, you can get solid shots. Since the focus is fixed, no further focusing is required.
There is no light meter, but you can adjust the aperture using a slide on the side. Three options are available: for lightning, cloudy days and sunny weather. The exposure time is probably between 1/100 s and 1/150 s.
Thanks to the hot shoe connection, it is possible to attach an external flash unit. And most importantly, the camera is completely mechanical, so no batteries are needed.
Suitable films for the Hanimex 35 HS
The Hanimex 35 HS is designed for 35mm films. Such films are still commercially available and usually 36 shots fit on one roll.
Most photographers gravitate towards ISO 200 film, with the Kodak Gold 200* being particularly popular when it comes to vivid color shots. For monochrome lovers, the Kodak TRI-X 400* is often the first choice, despite the ISO number deviating from the recommendation.
These films are valued in the industry for their versatility, as numerous tests confirm. Other well-known film producers are Adox, Rollei and Foma.
The C-41 process, which is standard in many professional laboratories, is often used for developing color films. When shooting in black and white, the film should be treated with a suitable developer such as Kodak XTOL.
