The Halina Wide Zoom 70 is an analog snapshot camera made by Haking in China and uses the popular 35mm format. It is aimed at photography enthusiasts who are looking for a simple and straightforward camera for everyday use.
Technical features
The camera is equipped with a fixed zoom lens that covers a versatile focal length range from 28mm to 70mm. This range allows for both wide-angle landscape shots and easy zooming in for portraits or detail shots.
An integrated autofocus ensures fast and precise focusing, while a special macro mode can be activated via a convenient button on the front of the camera to enable close-ups of objects at short distances.
Exposure control is fully automatic, which makes the camera very easy to use. A built-in light meter measures the available light and automatically selects the appropriate settings for aperture and exposure time. The film speed (ISO) is detected via the DX coding of the inserted film cartridge, so no manual setting is required.
A built-in flash is available for shooting in low light conditions or to lighten shadows. In addition, the camera offers a special fill-in flash mode that automatically triggers a flash with each image to ensure even illumination. There is also a mode for avoiding red eyes in the images.
For long exposures or stable shots when using the zoom, the Halina Wide Zoom 70 has a tripod thread on the bottom.
Power supply, housing and display
The camera is powered by a CR2 battery (eBay / Amazon*), which is easily available online or in specialist stores. The camera’s housing is made of robust plastic, which offers a good balance between weight and durability. There is a handy display on the top that shows information such as the number of images already taken and the current camera settings.
Film selection and development
The Halina Wide Zoom 70 uses commercially available 35mm films, which are available in both color and black and white. Popular options for color photography include films such as the Fujifilm Superia 400*, which is known for its vibrant colors and good light sensitivity. For black and white photography, the Kodak T-Max 400* is a good choice, which delivers high sharpness and a wide tonal range.
Color negative films such as the Fujifilm Superia 400 are developed using the C-41 process, a widely used standard process offered in most photo labs. Black and white films require special developers and can be developed either in a photo lab or at home. Instructions on how to develop the film are usually included in the packaging of the respective film.
Handling and film format
The negatives of the Halina Wide Zoom 70 have the standard 35mm format of 24 mm x 36 mm. The film is transported automatically after each shot, ensuring quick and easy operation. A viewing window on the back of the camera allows you to check the film inserted and the frame number.
