The Halina 1950 TL is a simple 35mm compact camera from Haking. Its special feature is the two built-in, switchable lenses. This camera is particularly interesting because of its manual lens changing system, which does not require an electric motor.

The most striking feature of the Halina 1950TL is its tower lens system. This allows the user to switch between two lenses by operating a manual lever. The lack of an electric motor for this operation indicates that the camera was designed for maximum simplicity and durability.

There is no information on the focal lengths and aperture openings.

The exposure control of the 1950TL is fully automatic. This means that the camera itself determines the amount of light it needs and adjusts the settings accordingly. This allows even photography beginners to get consistent and well-exposed images without having to deal intensively with manual settings. The sensitivity of the film is read from the DX code on the cartridge.

The Halina 1950 TL’s built-in flash system ensures that photographers can take pictures even in poorly lit environments. It offers a simple but effective way to lighten shadows and capture nighttime or interior scenes.

The camera’s film transport is fully automatic, which makes it much easier to advance and rewind the film and speeds up the entire photography process.

Two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*) are required to operate the camera. There is no thread for a tripod on the underside of the camera. There is also no self-timer.

Films for the Halina 1950 TL

The Halina 1950 TL is designed for the use of 35mm film. Despite technological change, 35mm film is still commercially available and most photo labs offer to develop it.

Recommended film options for this camera are Fujifilm Superia 400* and Kodak TRI-X 400*. According to reviews, both films deliver excellent results and are ideal for everyday shooting.

The C-41 process is used for developing color film. Every lab that develops 35mm film uses this standard process. The development of black and white films is also supported by a large number of laboratories.
