Fujifilm Instax Square Sunset

The Fujifilm Instax Square Sunset is an instant film. It is a special edition of the Fujifilm Instax Square Film. It is made by Fujifilm and was presented in June 2023.

It is an instant film in Instax Square format. Each image has dimensions of 8.6 x 7.2 cm, with the captured image itself occupying 6.2 x 6.2 cm. The square format is reminiscent of the picture, while the remaining area represents the typical frame of an instant photo. In this edition, however, the frame is not white, but printed with colorful gradients.

After the color image is captured, the camera ejects it and the processing chemicals spread over the image, starting the development process. The image is fully developed within 90 seconds. Shaking does not speed up this process.

Film format

A suitable camera for the Fujifilm Instax Square Sunset is one from Fujifilm’s Instax Square series. Alternatively, the film can also be used with the Lomography Diana Instant Square and the Lomo’Instant Square. However, it is not compatible with the old Polaroid cameras or the Instax Mini models.

You can take up to ten instant photos with a film cassette. The images are protected outside the camera by an opaque plastic layer. This is ejected immediately after the film is inserted into the camera to start the instant picture fun.

It is important to store the unexposed Fujifilm Instax Square Sunset in a dry place, preferably in a cool and dark place. However, it is not recommended to freeze the film. Also note the expiration date of the film. After this period, the film can still be used, but the image quality may differ from that of “fresh film”.
