Fujifilm, also known as Fujifilm Holdings Corporation, is a Japanese multinational photography and imaging company. Founded in 1934, the company has been a leader in the development and manufacture of high-quality photographic equipment, accessories and materials for more than eight decades.
One of the aspects of Fujifilm's history is the company's role in producing film stock that was sold by other companies under their own brand names. This practice, known as OEM (original equipment manufacturer), was common in the photographic industry. Thus, films were sold under private labels, especially in the consumer market.
Many companies lacked the resources or expertise to manufacture film stock themselves, so they relied on Fujifilm to produce high-quality film products under their brand names. Well-known examples of Fujifilm's OEM partnerships include AgfaPhoto, DM-Markt and Rossmann.
