Kentmere 400

The Kentmere 400 is a black and white film. The film is manufactured by Harman Technology Limited in England. This company also produces the Ilford films. Therefore, with the Kentmere 400, you get the same quality, but at a much lower price. The name of the film was later changed to “Kentmere Pan 400”.

The traditional black and white film has a sensitivity of ISO 400, but according to Kentmere it can be pushed up to ISO 800.

The Kentmere 400 is good for shooting in low light conditions or when you need a short exposure time. At the same time, it should have good sharpness, fine grain, good contrast and wide exposure latitude, according to the manufacturer.

The Kentmere 400 must be processed in a black-and-white developer, but this does not necessarily have to be from Ilford.

The black-and-white film is available as 35mm film in cartridges and by the meter. A medium format variant of the film has been available since 2022, some time after the introduction of 35mm film. No variant of the film for large format cameras.

The film should be stored at 10-20 degrees in a cold dry place. If you need a little less sensitivity, then you can reach for the Kentmere 100.
