The Adox Silvermax is a black-and-white film. It was presented to the public at Photokina in 2012.

What sets the film apart, and is also reflected in the name, is the high silver content of the emulsion, up to 30% above other films. This allows for a high density and, according to the manufacturer, can handle a copy range of up to 14 stops. For this, however, it must be processed in the special Silvermax developer. It can, of course, also be developed in another developer.

Another special feature of Silvermax is the carrier on which the emulsion is cast. The base is 120 micron clear triacetet. For this reason, it can also be reverse-developed as a slide film, in the Scala process. The antihalation layer (AHU) of Adox Silvermax is located between the emulsion and the carrier.

The black-and-white film is available as 35mm film; it is not produced as medium-format film. However, it is available for Super 8 cameras under the name Adox PAN-X Reverso. It bears the imprint "Made in Germany."
