The Cosina CX-2 is a camera from Cosina. It is a viewfinder camera. It is the successor of the Cosina CX-1. The Japanese camera was also sold under the name “Porst CM auto 135”.
The lens, a Cosinon, of the Cosina CX-2 cannot be exchanged. The focal length is fixed and is 35 mm. The largest aperture is f/2.8. The model does not have autofocus. Therefore, you have to focus by hand. The minimum distance to the subject must be 90 cm.
For taking pictures, the Cosina CX-2 has a light meter. It was designed for films with a sensitivity of ISO 25 to ISO 400. The aperture and exposure time are set automatically by the camera. The use of an external flash is possible via the hot shoe. Perfect fit for the PX-11 flash.
Films for the Cosina CX-2
The Cosina CX-2 is designed for 35mm film. This type of film is still produced and can be processed by most photo labs without any problems. For color images, for example, there is the Kodak Ultramax 400*. An option for black and white images is the Ilford Delta 100*.
The color film is designed to be developed in the C-41 process and follows a fixed standard. The C-41 process is offered by almost every photo lab.
With black and white film, things are a bit different. Here there are many more possibilities and combinations. The only certainty is that a black and white developer must be used to get reliable results. Some photo labs also offer the development of this type of film.
The film in the camera must be wound manually by the photographer. However, there is an additional winder for the Cosina.
The dimensions of the 35mm camera are 10.3 x 6.6 x 4.2 cm. At the same time, it weighs 225 grams. The power source of the Cosina CX-2 is two SR44/LR44 (eBay / Amazon*).
The 35mm camera can be found only in used condition. The condition and possibly accessories decide the price.
