The Cosina C1s is a reflex camera. It was manufactured by Cosina and presented in the 90s. It differs from the Cosina C1 in that the C1s has a self-timer.
The lenses of the Cosina C1s can be easily interchanged. For this purpose the camera is equipped with a Pentax K lens mount. You have to focus the lens by hand. The 35mm camera does not have an autofocus function.
The Cosina C1s is fitted with a built-in light meter. It can adjust the exposure for films with a sensitivity of ISO 25 to ISO 3200. The exposure meter is designed to measure exposure through the lens of the camera. The aperture and exposure time can be freely adjusted according to the photographers wishes.
The Bulb mode of a 35 mm camera allows long exposures by keeping the shutter open as long as the shutter release button is pressed. This mode can be useful in low light conditions, when shooting fireworks or when creating light trails. However, using Bulb mode can also be challenging as the photographer needs to hold the camera steady throughout the exposure.
The Cosina C1s built-in hot shoe allows the use of an external flash. This is useful when shooting in low light conditions or when additional lighting is required. An external flash can be mounted on the hot shoe and when the shutter button is pressed, the flash fires to illuminate the subject. The Cosina C1s also has a built-in self-timer that allows the photographer to take a photo with a delay, which can be useful if the photographer wants to be in the photo themselves.
In addition to the self-timer and hot shoe, the Cosina C1s also has a thread for a cable release and tripod. This allows the user to connect a cable release to avoid camera shake when taking photos. The thread can also be used to attach a tripod to the camera, which is useful for long exposures or when the camera needs to be held steady for a long period of time.
The camera weighs 370 grams and the dimensions are 13,8 x 8,8 x 5,8 cm. The power source of the 35mm camera are two LR44 batteries (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Cosina C1s
Without photo films, nothing works with the Cosina C1s. The camera needs 35mm films more precisely. 35mm films are still being produced and are developed by most photo laboratories without any problems. The Kodak Portra 160* is a possible color film for the Cosina C1s. Black and white images are with the Ilford XP2 Super* possible.
