The Carena Jubilee is a simple snapshot camera. It was probably built in China in the 90s and sold in Germany under the house brand “Carena” by Photo Porst. Photo Porst was one of the largest photo dealers in the Federal Republic at that time.
The camera is made of plastic and at the lowest end of value. One advantage of the cheap manufacturing material is the low weight. The camera weighs just 110 grams. The dimensions of the camera are 11.5 x 7 x 3.5 cm.
The Carena Jubilee comes with a lens that cannot be changed. The focus of the lens cannot be changed. The minimum distance to the subject must be 120 cm, at least that’s what it says on the camera. However, the manual says a minimum distance of 150 cm.
The exposure is not measured by the camera. There is nothing to adjust on the camera, so batteries are not needed. All functions of the camera are mechanical. A tripod thread or a self-timer is not available.
Films for the Carena Jubilee
35mm film is needed to take pictures with the Carena Jubilee. The 35mm format is the most common film format. Therefore, some manufacturers still produce for this format. You can still buy the films quite easily. The largest selection can be found at online retailers.
The Kodak Ultramax 400* is a possible color film for the Carena Jubilee. Black and white images are easily possible with the Ilford XP2 Super*. Both are solid films for everyday use, but also for vacations. Up to 36 shots fit on one roll of film.
Other suitable film material is available from Fujifilm, Foma, Lomography and Rollei. Also the development is still very simply possible today. Corresponding services are offered in most countries.
