The camera comes with a fixed lens. For focusing the lens, an autofocus system was built into the Carena data AF. The closest focusing distance for this lens is 1.1 meters. You have to keep this distance at least to your subject for a sharp picture.
The camera comes with a light meter. Therefore, the photographer cannot choose the exposure time and aperture himself. The two values are set by the automatic exposure system.
The Carena data AF has a built-in flash. Film transport takes place automatically after each exposure. The return transport is also done by the motor. Only after this step, the film can be removed.
Films for the Carena data AF
The Carena data AF requires 35mm film. 35mm films are still manufactured and are developed without problems at most photo labs. For black and white images, you can reach for the Kodak T-Max 400*. For color images, the Agfaphoto Vista 200* is an option.
Color film is a color negative film and is developed using the C-41 process. The C-41 film is offered by most photo labs. A development of a 35mm color film is possible e.g. at most drugstore chains in Germany.
The black and white film must be processed in a black and white developer. Development is also possible in an external photo lab, but you have full control when developing at home. Here you have every step in your own hands and can get the best results.
With a size of 11.6 x 6.6 x 4.5 cm, the Carena data AF weighs 180 grams. The power source of the 35mm camera is a CR 123A battery (eBay / Amazon*).
