The Carena Autofocus is a 35mm snapshot camera from the Carena brand. Carena was very often used as a trademark by the German photo retailer Photo Porst. It is characterized by its ease of use and compact design, making it ideal for everyday use and snapshots.
Technical features
The camera has a fixed lens with a fixed focal length. The exact focal length can vary depending on the model. The autofocus allows you to focus on the subject quickly and easily without the need for manual settings.
The camera controls the exposure settings automatically. This ensures that the shots are correctly exposed even in changing lighting conditions.
A flash is built in for shots in low light or indoors. It is powered by two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). These batteries are of course very easy to get hold of.
Film selection
The Carena Autofocus uses 135mm format 35mm film. For color shots, the Kodak Ultramax 400* is often recommended, while for black and white shots, the Ilford HP5* is a popular choice.
In addition to these two films, there are a variety of other manufacturers and film types that are compatible with the camera, including Rollei, Adox and Foma. Color films are developed using the widely used C-41 process, which is offered by most photo labs.
Film format and handling
The 35mm format (24 mm x 36 mm) allows around 36 exposures to be made on one film. The film transport is automatic, allowing the user to concentrate fully on taking photos.
Availability
The Carena Autofocus is no longer produced and is therefore only available on the second-hand market. The condition and price of the camera can vary greatly depending on the seller and condition.
