The Canon FTb-N is an SLR camera. It is the successor of the Canon FTb and was introduced to the world in 1973 by the Japanese camera manufacturer.
The novelties of this revised model are limited. For example, the display of exposure time in the viewfinder was improved, a larger shutter release was used, and a plastic tip was added to the film transport lever.
The lenses of the Canon FTb-N can be changed. This is made possible by the Canon FD bayonet. The Canon FTb-N does not have an autofocus. Therefore, you have to focus by hand.
The 35mm camera has a light meter. It can be used with films from ISO 25 to ISO 2000. The correct exposure is measured through the lens. The aperture and shutter speed can be freely selected. This model does not have an automatic exposure.
The photo camera comes with a Bulb mode. Here, the shutter is open for a variable time. With the PC flash port and the hot shoe, it is possible to use a flash.
The 35mm camera has a built-in self-timer. In addition, there is a connection for a cable release and a thread for a tripod. With a size of 14.4 x 9.3 x 4.3 cm, the housing weighs 750 grams. The 35mm camera is powered by a 1.35 V mercury battery.
Films for the Canon FTb-N
What is needed for the Canon FTb-N is 35mm film. 35mm films are still being manufactured today. They can be developed in most laboratories. A good choice for color photography, for example, is Kodak Ultramax 400*. If you want to stay monochrome, the Kodak TRI-X 400* is not bad.
The Canon FTb-N negatives are 24mm x 36mm. With a normal film (135-36), 36 photos are usually possible. When loading the film, the user is assisted by Canon’s QL system.
The Canon FTb-N is no longer in production. What the condition is and whether it still works decides the value of the camera these days.
