The Candido 800 is a color negative film that is characterized by its specific sensitivity to light. It is sold under the Candido Collective brand, although the brand itself is not responsible for its production.
The film specializes in color images and has an ISO sensitivity of 800 specified by the manufacturer. This ISO specification describes how sensitive the film material reacts to light: a higher ISO number means higher light sensitivity, while a lower ISO number requires more light for optimal exposure.
Thanks to the ISO 800, the film is particularly suitable for shots in low light conditions. The higher sensitivity leads to a noticeable grain in the images, which characterizes the characteristic look of the film.
Film development
This film is developed using the C-41 process, a standardized method in color photochemistry that differs from black and white development. Since the C-41 process runs according to the same specifications everywhere, it offers reliable consistency in the result. With a little experience and the right chemicals, you can also develop the film at home. The process produces image negatives on film strips, which can then be further processed.
After development, you usually either have prints made or digitize the negatives. Many labs offer image prints as an additional service, while digitizing using a scanner is also common practice. If you want to digitize more often, you can purchase a scanner for home use. Once the images have been digitized, they can be easily shared on social networks or printed in various formats.
Format
The Candido 800 is only available for 35mm cameras and delivers 36 images per film roll. A DX code is printed on the film cartridge, which can be read by compatible cameras. Many 35mm cameras, including models from well-known brands such as Porst, Agfa and Contax, are designed for this format.
Storage
The quality of the subsequent images is greatly influenced by the storage conditions of the film. To maintain image quality, unused film should be stored in a cool, dry place. For the best possible results, it is recommended that exposed films be developed promptly.
