The Reto Ultra Wide & Slim from Reto is a 35mm film camera with a wide-angle lens. It has been offered by the Hong Kong-based company since 2022. In terms of functionality, it is identical to a model from Superheadz. The camera is produced in China.
The camera is available in various versions. For colors, you can choose between Cream, Charcoal, Muddy Yellow, Murky Blue, Olive, Pastel Pink, and Teal.
The camera lens is fixed and not interchangeable. With a focal length of 22 mm, the lens can be opened to a maximum of f/11. This focal length captures a very wide viewing angle on the film.
The focus of the lens is fixed and cannot be changed. The minimum focus distance is 100 cm.
Unlike other cameras, this one does not have a function for measuring correct exposure. The shutter speed is fixed at 1/125 second. The aperture also cannot be changed.
This model does not have a self-timer or automatic film transport. You also won't find a built-in flash on the Reto.
With dimensions of 10 x 5.9 x 2.8 cm, the Reto Ultra Wide & Slim weighs 69 grams. The camera requires no power to take pictures. The scope of delivery includes the camera, manual, wrist strap, and a storage bag.
Films for the Reto Ultra Wide & Slim
According to the manual, the Reto Ultra Wide & Slim uses 35mm films. These films are still available on the market and can be easily developed at most external photo labs without any issues. For color shots with this camera, Kodak Ultramax 400* in 35mm format is recommended. For black and white shots, Kodak T-Max 400* in 35mm format can be used.
The C-41 development process is commonly used for developing color films and is available in many photo labs. Large drugstore chains in Germany also offer color film development. There are various options for developing black and white films. You can take them to a photo lab or develop them yourself at home with the appropriate equipment.
The exposure area of the 35mm camera is 24 mm x 36 mm. Typically, about 36 images can be captured on a standard film. The film must be manually advanced by the photographer to move to the next image, as the camera lacks automatic film transport.
