In 2021, the Kodak M35 was launched, a camera designed for 35mm film rolls.

Sino Promise Group Limited, a China-based company, manufactures this camera after acquiring the rights to the "Kodak" brand name. The company manufactures a variety of 35mm cameras under this brand.

RETO Production Ltd, a Hong Kong-based company, handles distribution in selected regions.

The M35 is offered in many color variations. For example, it comes in yellow, scarlet, candy pink, gray, olive green and violet.

The camera has a fixed lens. With a focal length of 31 mm, it has a maximum aperture of f/10. The lens is made of a plastic element.

The lens has a fixed focus that cannot be adjusted. To avoid blurry images, a distance of at least one meter from the photo subject should be maintained.

The Kodak M35 is not equipped with a light meter. The exposure parameters are fixed, with an aperture of f/10 and a shutter speed of 1/120 second. A long exposure mode (Bulb mode) is not available on this model.

Sufficient light is provided by the camera's integrated flash. The strength of the flash cannot be changed, but it is possible to turn the flash on or off.

The M35 does not have a device for attaching it to a tripod, nor does it have a self-timer. A double exposure function is also missing.

The dimensions of the Kodak M35 are 11.4 x 6.3 x 3.5 cm. It weighs in at 100 grams. A AAA battery (eBay / Amazon*) is responsible for the power supply. To operate the flash, a AAA battery is necessary, but it is not included in the package.

Film options for the Kodak M35

The camera comes without film, but it is designed for 35mm film rolls. Despite the popularity of digital cameras, the 35mm format still remains an integral part of the photography world, and several companies still produce film in this format.

Kodak Ultramax 400 in 35mm format is recommended for color images with the M35, while Kodak TRI-X 400 in the same format is suitable for black-and-white shots. Both films have performed well in tests in their respective categories.

However, there is also a wide range of films from other brands that are compatible with the camera, including Lomography, Foma, Rollei, and Fujifilm, which also offer 35mm films.

Color films are typically developed using the C-41 process used by most photo labs that process 35mm film. Black and white films, on the other hand, require a special development process for black and white films.
