Kodak Ultra F9, a photo camera for 35mm film, was presented to the public in 2021. Sino Promise Group Limited, a Chinese company, is responsible for its production. They have acquired the license for the brand name "Kodak" and produce various 35mm cameras in China under this label. In certain markets, the camera is distributed by RETO Production Ltd, a Hong Kong based company.

Two color variants of the camera are available: White/Dark Night Green and Kodak Yellow.

In this camera model, the lens is fixed and cannot be replaced. The widest aperture of the aperture at a focal length of 31 mm is f/9. The lens is constructed from a plastic lens element.

The focus of the lens cannot be changed. To avoid blurring, you should keep a minimum distance of 100 cm from the subject.

The Kodak Ultra F9 does not have an exposure meter. The exposure parameters are predetermined: The aperture is f/9 and the shutter speed is 1/120 second. There is no bulb mode for this camera.

Sufficient illumination is provided by the built-in flash. It is not possible to adjust the flash intensity, but the flash can be turned on and off.

The camera does not have a tripod socket or a self-timer. There is also no double exposure function.

The dimensions of the Ultra F9 are 11.9 x 6.7 x 4.4 cm and it weighs 170 grams according to the manufacturer. The flash requires a AAA battery (eBay / Amazon*) to operate, but this is not included.

Film stock for the Kodak Ultra F9

Suitable films are also not supplied with the camera. The Ultra F9 is designed for use with 35mm film. Despite the advent of digital cameras, the 35mm format remains an integral part of photography and various producers continue to make film for this format.

The Kodak Ultramax 400* is recommended for color shooting with the Ultra F9, while the Kodak TRI-X 400* is recommended for black and white shooting. Both films perform well in tests in common usage scenarios.

However, many other films exist that are compatible with this camera, including those from other manufacturers. For example, Lomography, Foma, Rollei, and Fujifilm produce compatible 35mm films for the Ultra F9.

Color films are usually developed using the C-41 development process, which is offered by all photo labs that develop 35mm films. Black and white films, on the other hand, must be processed in a special black and white developer.
