The Olympus XA2 is a compact camera from the Japanese camera manufacturer and part of the XA series from that same manufacturer. It was introduced in 1980 and sold for 6 years. The XA2 received a Good Design Award from the Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
As with all cameras in the XA series, the design is based on the Olympus XA. However, it was not only available in black, but also in red, blue and white-grey. For this, one feature was saved to make it more attractive for inexperienced users and to lower the price of the camera overall.
The camera sets the exposure automatically with its light meter, which is powered by two SR44 batteries (eBay / Amazon*). Only the film speed (ISO 25 to ISO 800) and the focus setting of the Zuiko 35mm F3.5 fixed focal length have to be adjusted by the photographer. For the latter activity, the whole system has been "simplified", rangefinder out and only three setting options.
A flash from the XA series can be connected to the side of the Olympus XA2. It also has a self-timer.
