The Nikon L35TWAF is a snapshot camera. It was introduced by Nikon in 1986 and is part of the L-series. The model was also marketed as "Nikon Tele Touch".
The camera comes with a lens that cannot be changed. There are two focal lengths to choose from, 38 mm and 65 mm. The maximum aperture at 38 mm is f/3.5. f/5.6 is the maximum aperture of the tele lens. With the Nikon L35TWAF, manual focusing is not necessary. The camera has an autofocus.
The closest focusing distance of the lens is 40 cm. With the 65 mm focal length, you have to keep a distance of at least 1.3 metres. If the close-up limit is undershot, the camera will give a warning.
Taking pictures is made easier by the built-in light meter. It is designed for an ISO range from 64 to 1600. The 35mm photo camera reads the DX code of the film cartridge and sets the light meter accordingly. In the absence of a corresponding code, ISO 100 is set as standard.
The Nikon L35TWAF has an automatic exposure control and sets aperture and exposure time automatically. The aperture and exposure time cannot be freely set according to the photographer's preference.
For pictures in low light a flash is built in. For ISO 100 films it reaches up to 10 meters. The camera has a self-timer and a tripod thread. The camera requires two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Nikon L35TWAF
The Nikon L35TWAF exposes cartridges with 35mm film. These are still easy to get today and development services are still around. A color film for 35mm camera is the Kodak Portra 400*. A possible film for black-and-white images is the Ilford XP2 Super*.
The color film is processed in the C-41 development process. This is offered by almost every photo lab.
The negatives of Nikon L35TWAF have a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. With this exposure area, normally, a 35mm film (135-36) will fit at least 36 photos. The film is automatically winded by the camera.
The Nikon L35TWAF can today only be found used. The price for a used copy depends on the condition. The value is normally below that of other L series cameras.
