The Nikon RF is a camera from Nikon. It is one of the simpler models of the Japanese manufacturer. It was built in Japan in the 1980s and also sold as Nikon Fun-Touch. The model was positioned as successor of the Nikon L135AF. The RF in the model name does not stand for Range Finder. Later the Nikon RF2 followed.

The 35mm photo camera comes with a fixed lens. The focal length is unchangeable and is 35mm. The largest available aperture is f/3.5. To focus the lens an autofocus system was built into the 35mm camera. The closest focusing distance of this lens is 95 cm.

The Nikon RF comes with a light meter. The aperture and exposure time are set automatically and cannot be changed. The camera has no possibility to set the ISO value manually.

The camera has a self-timer and a tripod thread. The self-timer can take two pictures in a row if desired. A built-in flash is also included. The 35mm camera weighs 250 grams.

The Nikon RF exposes an area of 24 mm x 36 mm. The film transport is automatic.

Films for the Nikon RF

Exposed in the Nikon RF are 35mm films. 35mm films are still in production and are developed without problems in most photo labs. Possible films for the Nikon RF are the Kodak Ultramax 400* for colour photos and the Ilford Delta 400* for b/w photos.

The development process for colour film is the C-41 process. The C-41 process is standardized and is offered by most developing laboratories. The black and white film must be processed in a real black and white developer.

The 35mm camera is only available used. The state of preservation and the functionality decide about the price of the Nikon RF. The camera does not have a high value.

Nikon RD

Nikon RD is the model name of the variant with the possibility of imprinting the date of recording. Apart from that, this model is identical in terms of the range of functions.
