  • Manufacturer Hitawa
  • Type Viewfinder camera
  • Type of Film 35mm
  • Focal Length 40 mm
  • Max Aperture f/2.8
  • Focus Manual

The Hitawa Compact 35 is a camera model for 35mm film and was marketed as a product under the Hitawa Labs. It was manufactured by Haking in Hong Kong and was also known as "Halina 35-600" under the Halina brand.

Your lens has a fixed focal length of 40 mm and cannot be interchanged. The maximum aperture is f/2.8 and focusing is manual. The lens can be focused up to a close-up limit of 80 cm.

This 35mm camera has an integrated exposure meter suitable for 35mm film from ISO 25 to ISO 400. The aperture is selected directly on the lens. Additional features such as a PC flash connection and a hot shoe allow the use of an external flash unit. It also offers a socket for a cable release and a tripod thread.

It is powered by a 1.35v PX625 mercury cell. Since this type of battery is no longer produced in the EU, alternatives such as the V625U cell (eBay / Amazon*) or the WeinCell replacement battery for PX625 (eBay / Amazon*) could be used, the latter having a reduced service life.

Film material for the Hitawa Compact 35

As a film camera, the Hitawa Compact 35 uses 35mm films. Such films are currently available and can be developed. A recommended color film would be Agfaphoto Vista 200*, while for black and white shots AgfaPhoto APX 400* is the choice.

Color film processing requires the C-41 process, which is available at most photo labs. Black and white films require special processing chemicals, but these are readily available. Professional development in a photo lab is also an option.

The Hitawa Compact 35 exposes an area of 24mm x 36mm on the film. The film must be transported in the camera manually. There is a thumbwheel on the back of the camera for this. The frame counter for the photos taken is located on the top of the camera housing.
