The Haking Compact Flash is a viewfinder camera built by Haking. Its design is somewhat reminiscent of a rangefinder camera, but its range of functions is somewhat more limited. It was produced in a factory in Hong Kong.
The 35mm camera comes with a fixed lens with a fixed focal length. The focus is fixed on this model and there is no auto focus. With a focal length of 38 mm, the aperture can be opened to a maximum of f/4.
The photo camera does not have a built-in light meter. Only the aperture can be adjusted. There are three setting levels available here. Additionally there is a setting for film speed, ISO 100 and ISO 400. The shutter speed is fixed and is probably around 1/125 second.
Of course, the camera does not lack a built-in flash. There is a thread for a tripod on the underside.
The camera requires two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). The batteries are necessary for the flash. An LED on the top indicates that the flash is ready.
Films for the Haking Compact Flash
What type of film is the Haking Compact Flash designed for? It requires 35mm film. Such film is still available and can be ordered from most photo developing services.
Common film options for still cameras are Kodak T-Max 100* for black and white photos and Kodak Ultramax 400* for color photos. Tests praise their excellent performance in most usage scenarios.
The color film is developed via the C-41 process. Many labs are experienced in processing this particular film. A special developer should be used when developing black and white films. Detailed instructions can usually be found directly in the film packaging.
The exposure area of the Haking Compact Flash is 24 mm x 36 mm. At least 36 exposures fit on a roll of film. The camera lacks an automatic motor, so you are forced to advance to the next frame manually. There is a quick release lever for this. A frame counter shows the number of photos taken.
