Ansco 135

The Ansco 135 is a viewfinder camera. This 35mm camera was sold under the Ansco brand and made by the company Haking. Instead of Hong Kong, this camera originated from Macau. The Ansco 135 was also known as “Halina 150.”

The lens of this 35mm device is not interchangeable and is fixed in place. It boasts an aperture maxing out at f/5.6 and a focal distance of 33mm. Manual focusing of the lens isn’t necessary since it’s set.

There isn’t a built-in light meter on the camera. A side slider lets users modify the aperture. It offers three settings: Flash, Cloudy, and Sunny. The duration of exposure is constant, most likely between 1/100s and 1/150s.

You can affix an external flash through the hot shoe interface of the camera, providing added illumination for photo shots.

Powering the camera doesn’t require batteries. All its operations are mechanically driven, encompassing the film motion.

Films for the Ansco 135

The Ansco 135’s guide suggests using 35mm films. These 35mm films are still in production today and are relatively easy to locate. Generally, this camera can fit 36 exposures on a normal film roll.

It’s advisable to use ISO 200 films. The Kodak Gold 200* is a favorite among photographers seeking vibrant color shots. On the other hand, those who are inclined towards monochrome visuals often go for the Kodak TRI-X 400* black and white film. While it doesn’t come with an ISO sensitivity of 200, its adaptability is commendable.

Both film types are appropriate for diverse uses, as backed by numerous evaluations. Other notable brands in the field are Adox, Rollei, and Foma.

Regarding color films, the C-41 technique is widely adopted for development. Most expert photo labs provide the C-41 service. Black and white film requires a compatible developer, like Kodak XTOL.
