The Polaroid Originals OneStep+ is an instant camera. It was introduced in 2018. Its construction is similar to the OneStep from Polaroid. The housing of the camera is made of polycarbonate and ABS plastic. It is currently, in 2019, available in black and white.
The OneStep+ comes with two selectable focal lengths. You can choose between 103 mm and 89 mm (portrait). The closest focusing distance at 103 mm is 60 cm. At 89 mm it is even only 30 cm.
The Polaroid Originals OneStep+ has a built-in light meter. This can measure the exposure and transmit the corresponding values to the camera.
The special feature of the OneStep+, which also distinguishes it from the OneStep 2, is the built-in Bluetooth receiver. For Android smartphones and iPhones there is a suitable app for controlling the camera. So you can choose between different modes. For example, you can choose aperture and exposure time yourself. Let the camera trigger from a distance, take double exposures or lightpaintings or let the camera trigger at a noise. Of course there is also a self-timer.
The built-in flash provides enough light. The Polaroid Originals OneStep+ has a self-timer and a tripod thread. According to the manual, the camera weighs 493 grams. The dimensions are 15 x 11.1 x 9.7 cm. On the bottom of the camera there is a thread for a tripod. The power supply is provided by a built-in rechargeable battery. This can be charged via a USB socket. USB cable and a camera strap are supplied with the camera.
Films for the Polaroid Originals OneStep+
The Polaroid Originals OneStep+ is designed for instant film according to the instruction manual. The films can be used for the i-Type and type 600 format. The use of the usually cheaper i-Type films makes more sense. In this case, the battery is missing in the film cassette, which are not needed in the OneStep anyway.
If you want to make color pictures you can use the Polaroid Color Film for i-Type*. If you want to take artistic black and white snapshots, the Polaroid B&W Film for i-Type* is the perfect choice for the instant camera.
After pressing the shutter release, the instant image is transported out of the film cassette by two rollers inside the camera with a motor. This distributes the development chemistry on the image and development begins. This time cannot be shortened by shaking the image. On the contrary, one should leave the image during the development.
