Die LC-A+ mit Kiste

Lomo LC-A+ Review

There are already many reviews about the LC-A+, but I still wrote a small review about this lomo camera.

Die LC-A+ mit Kiste

After my Russian LC-A gave up the ghost in 2011, I looked for a successor. Of course, I wanted another LC-A, but it had to work and I didn't want to play "LC-A lottery" on eBay. So I ended up, as expected, with the LC-A+ (eBay / Amazon*).

I probably don't need to write much about the features of the LC-A+, they should be known to everyone by now. Every photo taken with it has a very special touch that is not easy to copy. Whether black and white, X-Pro, or normal color film, with the LC-A+ great results are possible with any type of film.

The LC-A+ has a light meter that automatically sets the correct aperture and shutter speed. This allows, among other things, quick snapshots without long adjustments. The camera does it for you. This has its advantages, but also disadvantages.

In some situations, it would be nice to see the selected settings and change them accordingly. Especially in high-contrast situations, I notice this often, e.g., when the subject in the foreground is darker than the background, the LC-A tends to expose the background correctly and let the foreground drown.

I think the LC-A+ is a good evolution of the classic Lomo LC-A. If I had the choice, I would probably go for the Lomo LC-A+.

I would especially recommend the LC-A+ to beginners, because with it you can easily get great lomo pictures, especially in combination with cross-processed slide film. If I could only choose one lomo camera, it would currently be the LC-A+. Diana, Holga and co. are cool, but they are not necessarily suitable for every situation. Thanks to its automatic exposure, you can use it day and night, and that's why the Lomo LC-A+ has become my faithful companion.
