If you drop off your film at a branch of the drugstore chain "DM", is it always developed at CEWE?
The answer to this question is no.
DM does not develop the film on-site nor in its own lab; they commission a large lab for development. They mainly send the films to CEWE.
Depending on the film type and location, the films may also go to other service providers.
Why is this important? Well, if you have special requests like cross processing or not cutting the films, etc., problems can arise. Depending on the large lab, certain requests may or may not be possible. There can also be variations in prices, so caution is advised. The same applies to Rossmann and other chains.
As in most cases, it helps to inform yourself first or simply try it out with a not-so-important film.
