Do I need to shake the pictures during development?
Shaking the pictures during the development time to shorten it is an existing myth. It originates from the Polaroid era, from which the slogan "Shake it like a Polaroid" also comes. The Instax Mini Film* do not need to be shaken and it does not shorten the development time. On the contrary, the pictures should remain still during development and should not be bent or shaken.
Do the pictures need to be protected from light during development?
The unexposed pictures are of course sensitive to light and must not come into contact with a light source. Once the picture has left the camera and development has begun, it is no longer sensitive to light. Nevertheless, you should not place it directly in bright sunlight during development.
How long does the development of the picture take?
The development time, which begins when the picture leaves the instant camera, normally takes about 90 seconds. Then the taken photo should slowly appear. The development is usually not completely finished after the 90 seconds, but continues slowly a bit further. Especially the contrasts become a bit stronger.
For the black and white films (Instax Mini Monochrome*), the development time is also 90 seconds.
Is there a temperature that must be maintained?
The Instax films are designed for temperatures from +5 degrees Celsius to +40 degrees Celsius. If it is colder during the shot, the ejected picture should be brought to a warm place immediately. Here, the trouser pocket or jacket pocket is usually suitable.
The unexposed film material should be stored in a range of +5 to +20 degrees Celsius. The storage location should be dry and dark. Do not freeze the film material.
