Polaroid Supercolors AVIA is a photo camera. It belongs to the group of instant cameras. The range of functions of the model is congruent with the Polaroid One Step Flash. It was created in cooperation with Avia.
The design of the camera is red and black. Next to the flash and above the image output is the logo of Avia. Avia International is a petroleum company from Switzerland. It operates over 3000 gas stations in 15 European countries in 2022.
The Polaroid Supercolors AVIA is characterized by its ease of use. Most of the setting options found on other types of cameras have been omitted.
The easy handling results in a low barrier to entry and thus numerous possibilities for areas of application. For example, weddings or parties would be good areas of application for the camera. However, it can also be a lot of fun on vacation.
The most important settings are already set. Free choice of shutter speed and aperture is not possible. The lens has a fixed focal length. Changing the lens is not possible. A zoom, as found in smartphones, does not exist in this model. Instead of pressing the zoom button, you have to get closer to the subject for close-ups. In order to achieve razor-sharp results, a minimum distance of 120 cm to the object should be maintained.
Of course, this camera also comes with a built-in flash. The flash fires automatically. The small aperture makes the use of the flash especially useful indoors.
Films for the Polaroid Supercolors AVIA
When taking photos, you can’t do it without the right instant film for your camera. The original film material is no longer produced. In a factory in the Netherlands, films for the 600 format are produced again since 2010.
There is film stock for color photos and monochrome images. One option for color photos is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. The right choice for monochrome images is the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. Both films get a good rating in test reports.
You can find eight images in one pack. The light-sensitive material must not come into contact with light under any circumstances. The ideal storage conditions are found in a clean and dark place.
The defined size of a picture is 10.8 x 8.8 cm. The actual picture is square and 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The rest is filled by a white frame. Also available are editions of Polaroid films with colorful frames.
Batteries
What batteries are needed for the Polaroid Supercolors AVIA? The camera is powered by a battery inside the film cassette. The power is sufficient for all unexposed images in the cassette. Even when using the flash for each shot. So changing the film also provides a new battery. An additional battery is not required for the instant camera.
For the sake of the environment, the film cassette with the battery should not be disposed of in household waste. The battery should be removed from the cassette and taken to a local drop-off location.
Instructions for the Polaroid Supercolors AVIA
How does the instant camera work? A little guide on how the Polaroid camera works.
The first step is to insert the film. To do this, open the film door by pushing the slider on the side of the housing forward. Then insert the film cassette and close the flap again. The protective plastic film of the film is automatically ejected.
Now you can take pictures with the camera. To capture the desired photo subject on film, the shutter release button located on the side of the housing must be pressed through. The gear inside the housing transports the photo out of the film cassette. In the process, it passes through two metal rollers that apply the developing chemicals over the image. After a short waiting period, the development process is complete. Then the final result can be viewed.
