Polaroid Spirit Peugeot

The Polaroid Spirit Peugeot is an instant camera. It was introduced to the general public in the 1980s. Its range of functions is identical to that of the Polaroid OneStep 600.

The edition was created in collaboration with Peugeot. On the side of the black case there is a white logo of the French car manufacturer, “Automobiles Peugeot pièces de rechange”.

The Polaroid Spirit Peugeot impresses with its lightness and ease of use. Most of the setting options found on other types of cameras have been omitted. The ease of use results in a low barrier to entry and thus numerous possibilities for areas of application. Changing the shooting settings is not possible. There is no provision for the photographer to freely set the aperture and exposure time. The lens has a fixed focal length. It is not possible to exchange the optics. The model does not have a zoom function. To get sharp pictures, a minimum distance of 120 cm from the subject should be maintained.

A connection for a flash bar can be found on the camera. To this port could be connected disposable flash bar.

Films for the Polaroid Spirit Peugeot

When taking pictures, you can not do without the right instant films for the Polaroid camera. The original film material of the American photo pioneer Polaroid can no longer be found in stores. Since 2010, a Dutch company has been producing suitable film material again.

Both a color film and a black-and-white film are available for the camera. One option for color photos is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. Black and white images can be created with the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. They enjoy great popularity among a wide range of photographers.

One pack is designed for eight images. The light-sensitive film material should not come into contact with light outside the camera. Optimal storage conditions for unexposed film material are found in a cool, dry place.

According to the standard, an image measures 10.8 x 8.8 cm. The captured image occupies an area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The rest of the area is filled by the familiar frame around the Polaroid picture. Editions with colored frames are also offered.

Not compatible with the instant camera are Fujifilm instant films.

Batteries

What type of batteries are needed for the Polaroid Spirit Peugeot? In this type of camera, the battery is found in the film cassette. So replacing the film also provides a fresh power source. This is the only battery needed for the camera.

The film cassette with the battery should not be disposed of in the household trash. It is best to take the plastic cassette or just the battery to a suitable local drop-off location.

How to use the Polaroid Spirit Peugeot

The first step is to insert the film. To do this, push the slider on the side forward. The camera should open. Then the film cassette is inserted. Then the flap can be closed again. The light-proof film over the film cassette is now automatically removed from the camera.

Now it’s time to take the picture. By pressing the release button on the side of the housing, the photo is taken. The motor in the camera now ejects the image and development begins. When the development process of the instant photo is completed after a few minutes, the photo can be closely examined.

Alternative Options

If you can’t find the camera, you can use other options. The first possible option is the original model Polaroid OneStep 600, which has the same range of features. In addition, of course, exposes the same films.

One may also want to reach for other instant cameras as an alternative. Perhaps the Instax Mini EVO* or Instax Mini 40* would be a possibility. Suitable film material is also still being produced.
